Hotel 81 Bencoolen sits right at the doorsteps
of the Central Business District.
Cultural and heritage attractions such as the National
Museum (currently under major renovation), National Art Museum,
Esplanade and others are about 5 to 10 minutes away on foot. The
shopping hubs of Orchard Road, City Hall, Bugis Junction and Marina
Square are within walking distance too. Raffles Hotel, the grand
icon of the country’s colonial past, sits a short distance
away on Beach Road. In short, almost all the significant tourist
landmarks in the CBD are within walking distance of the Hotel.
Bencoolen Street is a popular site for the backpacking
community with its affordable accommodation and food, and proximity
to the tourist landmarks. Enjoy a meal of roti prata (Indian pancake
served with curry sauce) washed down with a cup of tea-alia (ginger
tea) at the Bencoolen St stall. And also, there are several 24-hour
F&B establishments serving a wide selection of local dishes:
Kopitiam along Bras Basah Road. Restaurants serving international
and pricey cuisine are also well represented in the surrounding
areas.
he entertainment spots of Mohammed Sultan, Chjimes,
Boat Quay and Clarke Quay are situated conveniently within a 2-km
radius. Little India, the Indian cultural heartland of Singapore,
is a short drive away.
| Train/SMRT |
The train leaving the Airport station
only shuttles between the airport and the Tanah Merah Station
(EW4). Passengers must then alight (and walk across the platform)
to await the train on the EW (East West) line.
Once on train on EW line, alight at City Hall Station (EW13/NS25).
Then board the Train running the NS (North South) line towards
Orchard Road (note: do not board the NS train heading towards
Raffles or Marina station).
You must alight at the next station (Dhoby Ghaut Station),
and head towards Plaza Singapura or Orchard Road exit. From
there, ask any passerby the direction towards Bencoolen
Road. Our Hotel 81 Bencoolen is about a short 15 minute
stroll away.
